Calanais Standing Stones (Study)
Stone sculpture
This work is a contemporary interpretation of the Calanais standing stones on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland. Based on archival site plans, the sculpture explores alignment, orientation, and collective intention through variations in stone height, spacing, and direction. Rather than recreating the monument as an object, the piece emphasizes movement, negative space, and structural relationship—reflecting how Neolithic communities used stone to organize time, place, and human presence within the landscape.
